Arsenal vs Newcastle 4-1, Arteta's Squad Instant Response, The Gunners Compete for Premier League Title

Mikel Arteta was happy with Arsenal's performance last night because they managed to beat Newcastle with a convincing score of 4-1 at the Emirates Stadium, Sunday (25/2/2024) early morning WIB.

Arsenal dominated the game more than Newcastle, their aggressiveness, efficiency of play and number of shots on target were much better than the visitors.

Arsenal's two goals came in the first half through Sven Botman's suicide and Kai Havertz's goal.

Then Bukayo Saka and Jakub Kiwior added to the Gunners' tally of goals in 45 minutes of the second half.

This result was Arsenal's sixth consecutive win in the Premier League and resulted in 25 goals with a much smaller conceded figure, namely 3 goals.

A good response from the Gunners squad following the narrow defeat against Porto in the Champions League midweek.

"I am very happy with the team's performance against Newcastle which was very good," said Arteta after the match.

"The players were very good, very aggressive, and we deserved to win the game," he continued.

Regarding the Gunners' strong defensive line, Arteta remains humble, even though he only conceded 3 goals in 6 matches, he feels there are still many things that need to be improved.

"They performed very well but we still have to improve," said Arteta about Lintasa's duet with Gabriel to TNT Sports, quoted by the BBC.

"We have a few days to reflect because we will play again on Monday."

"It's been a very intense week and it was a very positive way to end it," he explained.

This result leaves Arsenal only one point behind Manchester City (2) and two points behind Liverpool who sit at the top.

Mikel Arteta's men are undergoing their second consecutive season in the competition for the Premier League title after being eliminated by Manchester City last season.

However, there is a striking difference in their performance in the title competition compared to last season.

Arsenal has more energy to fight.

"This is the second time in the title race (for Arsenal) and it seems to me there is more energy and fight," said former England defender Martin Keown.

"Fear crept in a little bit (last season), but now it's different," he explained.
