English League Results: Beat Bournemouth 0-1, Manchester City Again Tightly Stick to Liverpool


Manchester City narrowly won 0-1 when they visited Bournemouth's headquarters in Week 26 of the Premier League, Sunday (25/2/2024).

Phil Foden's goal in the 24th minute was the only goal in the match which was held at i Vitality Stadium.

With this victory, Manchester City again closed the points gap from Liverpool to just one point.

This victory made Man City collect 59 points, the result of 18 wins and five draws from the 26 matches played.

Since the start of the match, Manchester City played with high dominance, only to win they had difficulty completing clinical opportunities.

Haaland had a chance in the 9th minute after receiving Foden's pass. He took Soloran a few steps before opening fire. Unfortunately the ball only went wide to the side of the goal.

Not long after, a neat response from Bournemouth meant that Ederson had to make a save.

Milos Kerkez fired a powerful shot from long distance. Luckily Ederson was alert enough to parry the ball.

The goal that Man City had been waiting for finally came in the 24th minute, starting from a ball sent by Kovacic to Haaland.

The striker from Norway fired a shot from a narrow angle. The ball was blocked by Neto, but Foden quickly snatched it for a goal.

This was Foden's 16th goal this season in all competitions. In total he has scored 44 Premier League goals for Man City.

This goal has surpassed his former colleague Riyad Mahrez, who previously scored 43 goals.

In the 26th minute, Bernardo Silva's shot almost became City's second goal if it hadn't gone just a little wider than the goal.

Towards the end of the first half, Bournemouth tried to get back up. They almost equalized through a long-range shot attempt.

Again, Ederson was still alert enough to secure the ball.

Bournemouth still tried to equalize the score in the second half. Several attempts at long-range shots were launched again.

52' minute, Kluivert kicked from 25 yards. Ederson was still tough enough to thwart that opportunity into a goal.

The hosts almost equalized through a corner kick in the 68th minute. Ederson, who was behind his line, managed to block it by punching the ball.

Haaland had a chance in the 74th minute. He played one or two passes with Bernardo Silva and then stabbed.

Unfortunately his shot still hit the Bournemouth goalkeeper, again it didn't become a goal. Not long afterward he was pulled out by Pep Guardiola.

De Bruyne came on in the 83rd minute to replace Kovacic. However, the entry of the Belgian player has not helped Man City much in their efforts to double their goals.

Until the match ended, Man City's 0-1 victory remained unchanged.

With this result, Manchester City have won more away games in all competitions this season (14) than last season's treble overall (13).
