Latest iPhone SE Ready to be Released in 2025, Featuring an OLED Screen and Notch Design

The latest generation iPhone SE is rumored to be released in 2025. According to reports, Apple is now preparing to introduce an affordable iPhone series which will reportedly feature an OLED screen.

For your information, the iPhone SE was first introduced in 2016, and is positioned as a more affordable line for people who want to own an iPhone.

Four years later, Apple re-released the iPhone SE 2020 with design changes that made it similar to the iPhone 8. Not only that, this smartphone experienced increased performance thanks to the A13 Bionic chip.

In 2022, Apple will release the Phone SE with exactly the same design as the previous generation. However, this device uses the A15 Bionic chip, the same as the iPhone 13 line.

Returning to the Phone SE 2025, this smartphone is rumored to be using an OLED panel. If true, this will be an improvement from the previous SE series which still used an LCD panel.

Quoting GizChina, Friday (23/2/2024), the iPhone SE will also not adopt the Dynamic Island design like the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15, but rather the iPhone 14 notch design.

The screen design that will be used by the latest SE series will be exactly the same as the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14. The iPhone SE 2025 will maintain a 6.1 inch screen with a resolution of 2,532 x 1,170 pixels.

This iPhone screen is said to have a brightness level of 1,200 nits, and uses glass with Ceramic Shield technology.

It is rumored that the iPhone SE will reduce several features that other, more premium iPhone series have. This is done because the SE series will be marketed outside the premium iPhone range.

iPhone SE will use an OLED panel from Samsung

Apple is rumored to be ordering Samsung OLED screens to be used in the iPhone SE 2025.

Samsung Display and Apple themselves are known to have collaborated in developing OLED screens for several iPhone series that use OLED panels.

Apart from Samsung Display, Apple is also rumored to be ordering OLED screens from BOE and Tianma, a panel manufacturer from China.

Samsung Display and BOE are panel companies that are experienced and have guaranteed panel quality. Meanwhile, Tianma is not a serious competitor when compared to these two companies.

Samsung itself is said to have several advantages compared to the two companies. Moreover, the South Korean company had previously developed an OLED screen for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 series.

Meanwhile, BOE needs to make harder efforts to get Apple to order screens from BOE.

This is because the iPhone 15 panel which uses OLED from BOE is experiencing several problems, so Apple will likely reduce orders or even not order OLED panels from BOE.

iPhone SE will still use the notch design

Additionally, it's interesting to see that the next iPhone SE will retain the notch design that has been used since the iPhone X.

With the arrival of the iPhone 15 series, Apple implemented a new design language with a punch-hole design (Dynamic Island) for all iPhone series.

For now, the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus are still the last iPhones that still use a notch design.

This year, it is rumored that the iPhone 16 series will retain the Dynamic Island design.

It's worth waiting for the rumors about the iPhone SE to come in the next few months, before the device is actually officially introduced.

Leaked iPhone 16 which will be coming in a few months

Meanwhile, there are leaks regarding the iPhone 16 which will be launched in the next few months.

According to MacRumors, Tuesday (13/2/2024), the iPhone 16 Pro will have a 6.2 inch screen, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a 6.8 inch screen.

Meanwhile, the standard iPhone 16 model will still have the same screen size as the iPhone 15 series, namely 6.1 inches for the iPhone 16 and 6.7 inches for the iPhone 16 Plus.

The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are predicted to use Apple's new chipset which is produced with 3nm TSCM technology.

It is not yet known exactly what this new chipset is about. However, it is very likely that Apple will use the name A18 Pro.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models only use the regular A18. From leaks currently circulating, the A18 chipset has enhanced Neural Engine capabilities.

The iPhone 16 Pro is rumored to have 8GB RAM, which is an increase from the 6GB on the iPhone 15 Pro. This increase in RAM is expected to improve multitasking and performance.

Both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a more advanced 48MP main camera sensor, so they can take better photos and videos than current iPhone models.
